No-exam life insurance

Which applicants qualify for expedited decisions, how the process works, and what happens if you don't.

A growing number of carriers provide expedited underwriting: for applicants within age thresholds and amount ranges, decisions use information you supply, rx databases, driving history and additional data, avoiding the doctor visit. Some applicants get word back within hours. This site tells you for every quote if a doctor exam is required, might be required, or won't be required.

What it changes

Bypassing the exam doesn't bypass the investigation. The carrier validates your responses, and a policy written based on false information may be invalidated within twenty-four months. If the carrier uncovers concerns, a test or blood work may still be requested; you're free to proceed or stop.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, applicants in their late fifties or younger applying for amounts within the carrier's expedited ceiling, with uncomplicated medical history and no tobacco for twelve months or longer. Some carriers will use a recent lab screening from your doctor's office instead of ordering new work.

When needed, an exam usually involves a short visit—typically lasting twenty to forty minutes—from a medical professional at your location in the Covina region, at zero cost to you. A positive result can actually lift your rate tier if you're in good shape, so an exam isn't inherently bad news.
